Library Notifications by Email and SMS

This is a list of notifications sent by the library about your borrowed materials.

The notification will be sent to the mail and phone number shown in the UNIST portal.

Please read your email regularly. You are responsible for blocks associated with recalled and overdue materials.

How to Borrow

Self-Service Machine

    • Users can borrow books through Self-Service Machines on the 1st and 3rd floor.
    • To use the machine, you should have your ID card.
    • Follow the screen directions to borrow a book.
    • Password is 6 digits of your birth date.
    • Please check the due date and status on the screen after you borrow the book.

     

    ※ You can only borrow DVD&CD materials at the Information Desk on 2nd floor.

If you cannot borrow a book with the machine

    You may not be able to borrow a book for the following reason.

    • A student on leave of absence, Alumni
    • If you have overdue books
    • If you have a loan block for a specific reason
    • System error
    • Course Reserve, Basic Science books, Reserved books
    • etc.

     

    ※ If you cannot borrow a book with the machine, please visit 3F Information Desk.

How to return

Self-Service Machine

    • Users also can return books through Self-Service Machines on the 1F and 3F.
    • Please check returning receipt after return the book.

     

    ※ Associated materials should be returned 3F Info desk separately from the original books. (If users lost associated materials, they must compensate.)

    ※ You don’t have to bring UNIST ID card when you return a book.

How to Renew

  • Users can renew books that has been on loan if there is no reservation.
  • Library Website > MY ACCOUNT> Loans·Renewal·Holds
  • Renewals begin from the day of users request.
  • Each material may be renewed anytime until the maximum extension date.
  • ex) If you renew a book three days after from the loan date, your due date will be extended to three days.

In cases renewal is unavailable

  • If you have overdue items
  • If another user reserved the book

  • Course Reserves

Reserve a Book

  • If a book in need is borrowed checked out, users can make a reservation to get first when it is returned.
  • If a user have an overdue item, he(she) cannot reserve other items.

    Visit 1F 『Smart Library』 to borrow the book

How to Reserve

    If there are no copies available, use the Reserve link which will appear at the bottom of the detail page of the item. This will reserve the copy that is returned to the Library first.

     

I have reserved a book. How long will it take before it becomes available to me?

If you requested the book via the Library Website, the first copy of that title to be returned will be held for you when it is returned(assuming you’re the first on the reservation list). This should be within a day of it being returned. You can check approximate return date at the detail page for the material.

Overdue

  • Overdue fines shall be applied from the day following the designated borrowing period to the day on which the overdue materials are returned.
  • Overdue Fines: 100KRW per material per day
  • Overdue fines for ‘Course Reserves’ books: 200 KRW per book per hour
  • You can check and pay your overdue fines on the library website. (MY ACCOUNT>Overdue Block, Pay Overdue Fines)

Notice of due date will be sent 3 days before&the day of the due date

Overdue notification will be sent to you every other day from the due date

 

<How to Pay Overdue Fines>

1. Online payment system

 

Overdue fines can be paid with a credit card through an online payment system.

 

① Agreement of payment: Agree to the terms and conditions of electronic financial transactions.

② Select the card to proceed.

 

 

2. Account transfer

Also you can pay overdue fines via account transfer. After transferring overdue fines to the designated account, please either send a confirmation to a staff member in charge of work or visit the 3rd floor Information Desk. Blocks related to overdue materials will be deleted at this time.

Lost

  • If you lost library materials, you should compensate by purchasing the exact materials.
  • If you cannot purchase the materials, for certain reasons, you should contact to the library.

Damaged

  • If you damage library materials, you should compensate by purchasing the exact materials.
  • If you cannot purchase the materials, for certain reasons, you should contact to the library.
