참고자료는 배경지식을 얻을 수 있기 때문에 연구주제를 처음 접하거나 연구를 시작할 때 이용하면 유용합니다.

• 사전 (Dictionary): 어떤 단어나 전공 또는 주제에 관한 정의를 알고 싶을 때, 새로운 주제 관련 자료를 찾기 전 기본 개념을 알고 싶을 때
• 백과사전 (Encyclopedia): 주제에 관한 개요, 역사, 통계 등을 알고 싶을 때, 또 다른 정보를 얻기 위해 참고할만한 자료를 알고 싶을 때
• 편람 (Handbook): 주제에 관한 여러 사실, 데이터 등을 차트, 그래프 등으로 보고 싶을 때, 주제에 관한 용어, 방법 등을 간결하게 집약하고 있는 자료를 보고 싶을 때

Reference Sources are materials that inform facts of specific subject. For example, an encyclopedia, a dictionary and handbooks are reference sources.

• Encyclopedia & Dictionary: a reference work holding information of concepts
• Handbook: a reference work holding information related to certain subject

Ref. means Reference. Materials which have ‘Ref.’in their call number are located in Reference bookshelf (in front of 3F information desk).
Those materials are not allowed to check out, but can be used on the 3rd floor of UNIST library.
